Postseason not likely for FP

It appears the Franklin Parish Patriots may fall just shy of reaching the playoffs when the brackets are released later this week.

Franklin Parish (15-13, 4-4 in 2-4A) fell to Bastrop in the regular season finale last Friday, 61-55, in what was essentially a must win game for both teams in order to extend their seasons.

"Right now it looks like we are on the outside looking in, but stranger things have happened," Franklin Parish athletic director Barry Sebren said. "The (Bastrop) game turned out to be basically a playoff game and we came up a little bit short."

Franklin Parish is currently ranked 34th in the 4A power rankings according to Louisiana high school athletics site, KenRamsey.com. The top 32 teams are included in postseason play.

Neville (20-8, 6-2) has secured the district championship. Bastrop and Wossman square off Monday night to decide who finishes second, while FP will finish the year in fourth place.
