Deputies charge Wisner man with attempted murder A Wisner man has been charged with second-degree attempted murder after a shooting left a Gilbert man hospitalized Sunday night.
According to Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to Turkey Creek Recreational Park around 8:30 p.m Sunday in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival authorities discovered a white male had been shot multiple times. Although FPSO would not identify the victim, he is reportedly 31-year-old Wyman Lee "Bubba" Ezell Jr. of Gilbert.
FPSO stated immediately after their arrival, 31-year-old Cary Cheek of Wisner was apprehended without incident and transported to the Franklin Parish Detention Center. Cheek was currently residing in a trailer at the park where the incident allegedly occurred.
According to FPSO, Cheek fired five rounds from a .357 six-shot revolver. It is unclear at this time how many times Ezell was hit with gunfire, but at least three projectiles entered the victim's body.
The victim was taken to Franklin Medical Center and was later transported to St. Francis Hospital in Monroe for surgery. He is reportedly in stable condition and will recover from the injuries sustained.
No further information has been made availiable at this time. The incident is still under investigation by FPSO. |
