Former Rep. Noble Ellington will meet with the state Board of Ethics later this month to request $1,400 in late fees that were assessed to his political action committee, Noble PAC, be waived.

"I felt like it was at least something that needed to be addressed, because we feel like the fee is without merit," Ellington said. "We talked with the ethics board previously about this, but we didn't ask the question correctly. I'm not putting the blame on them, or am I putting it on me. But I guess it's going to fall on me and I will probably wind up having to pay the fine. "

Ethics officials said that Noble PAC gave a campaign contribution in 2010 to Agriculture-Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain and was seven days late in filing the report. The ethics staff recommended that Ellington's committee be assessed a late fee of $1,400.
