WPD makes arrest in dog-fighting case
by Katie Norwood - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
A Winnsboro man has been arrested and charged with dogfighting and cruelty to animals after law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence where a dog fight was reportedly taking place.

Twenty-three year old Kenneth D. Addison, 1421 Blanson Street, Winnsboro, and an unidentified black male, were allegedly watching two pit bulls fight when officers with the Winnsboro Police Department arrived at the scene.

As two WPD officers approached the suspects, both fled the backyard of the residence on foot, according to the arrest affidavit. Addison was apprehended a short time later and taken to the Franklin Parish Detention Center where he was booked on charges of flight from an officer, dogfighting, cruelty to animals and disturbing the peace. Addison was also charged with public intimidation and retaliation for allegedly threatening the arresting officer with bodily harm.
