Auditors praise city's financial records
An independent audit of the City of Winnsboro released last week portrays the city's fiscal orders in a flattering light.
Silas Simmons LLP, an accounting firm from Natchez, conducted the audit that encompassed July of 2010 to July of 2011.
Myles Hopkins, a Silas Simmons CPA, called the audit, "A really vanilla report," when he addressed the City Council last week.
"After reviewing the financial records, our opinion is an unqualified one," Hopkins said. "This means we see no problems and we stand behind the fiscal records submitted to us by the City of Winnsboro."
