Parish notes tax revenue increases

Sheriff Kevin Cobb is expected to collect more than $6 million in property taxes this year in Franklin Parish. Assessor Rod Elrod said that would be an increase of nearly $1 million from the previous year and it can mostly be credited to the numerous pipeline companies operating in the area.

"Taxable value has increased a good bit in the time since I've been here primarily from the pipelines," Elrod said. "Four of the seven top taxpayers listed for last year were companies of this nature."
