Daycare owner sentenced for fraud
United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced recently that Angela S. Lafonta, owner of Tinkerbelle's Day Care in Winnsboro and Rayville, La., was sentenced to 55 months in prison for defrauding the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services' Child Care Assistance Program out of approximately $120,000 over a three-year period.
Lafonta was also ordered to pay $16,404.99 in restitution.
Lafonta, 37, of Winnsboro, was convicted by a federal jury of three counts of making false claims to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.
