Lifters shine at Iron Patriot Invitational
Hours of hard work in the weight room paid dividends for a number of local prep powerlifters last week. Over 12 Franklin Parish students brought home medals at the 1st Annual Iron Patriot Invitational.
Farm Bureau of Winnsboro and Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb were the primary sponsors of the event which hosted powerlifting teams from Delhi Charter, Sterlington and FP. There were a total of 75 student-athletes competing in various weightlifting exercises for an overall score in a specified weight class.
"The meet was an extreme success and we will be increasing the size of the event next year," coach Joseph Purvis said. "I would like to thank the (FPHS) football team and (FPHS) Beta Club for all their help and support of the Iron Patriots."
