Councilmen approve subdivision variance

After months of postponements and delays, it appears the proposed Northbrook Subdivision may finally come to fruition.

In a special meeting Monday, the Winnsboro City Council met with the Zoning Commission and executives from New Horizon Development and settled on a solution for the zoning issues that have hampered the project since last year.

The council approved a variance submitted by zoning commission chairman Kelly Martin that would allow multi-family dwellings to fall into the current R1 zoning. However, the variance stipulates the multi-unit subdivision must be of the same construction and styling as the existing dwellings in Meadowbrook Subdivision – which are also owned by New Horizon Development.
