Officials enlisted to fight obesity
Franklin Parish could be on the fast-track to a healthier new year, if a grant can be secured through the Blue Cross Foundation Challenge to fight obesity in Louisiana.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has set a Jan. 13 deadline for communities and organizations to submit letters of intent to apply for up to $10 million in matching grant funds to fight obesity.
Grant supervisor Pam Barton of the Ouachita Parish School Board and Linda Trimble, OPSB grant facilitator, addressed the Franklin Parish School Board on Tuesday during its monthly agenda meeting regarding the Challenge for a Healthier Louisiana program.
