School Board to recognize academic excellence

The Franklin Parish School Board will begin the new year by honoring parish students with exemplary scores on the Leap, GEE and EOC tests.

Curriculum director DeLayne Donnell will introduce each student during the board's regular meeting on Jan. 10 at 5:30 p.m.

Leap exams are administered each year to parish students in the fourth and eighth grades. The test measures students' knowledge and skills in English language arts, math, science and social studies. The high
stakes tests determine whether students will be required to attend summer school or be retained in the current grade.
