Over the last two years, the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Department has been bombarded with complaints of property thefts. According to Sheriff-elect Kevin Cobb, many of the reports have been specifically related to cooper wire or scrap metal.

Copper, which once sold at 40 to 80 cents a pound, is up to $2.50 per pound in some areas, making it a desirable commodity to thieves looking to make an easy payday.
