Jury enacts temporary rental policy A special-called meeting of the Franklin Parish Police Jury was held last week to discuss temporary policies regarding the renting of the Abe Lincoln Community Center.
On the advice of legislative auditor Mary Jo Finely Accounting Inc., the police jury ordered the locks to be changed at the center earlier this month after it was reported the parish-owned building was being rented out without any record or agreement with the parish.
This prompted a visit from concerned citizens Emma Blackshire and Georgia Jones at the monthly jury meeting. The two sisters claimed to have been caretakers of the center since its construction and were upset that the locks had been changed without their knowledge.
