Sheriff-elect prepares for transition
For many sheriff departments across the state, the next year will bring about drastic changes from policies down to the personnel. Along with this may come trying times for the department, and in some situations the community it serves.
In Franklin Parish's unique case, the transition should be as smooth as one could hope for, according to FPSO Chief Deputy and sheriff-elect Kevin Cobb.
Cobb will be sworn in as sheriff on Jan. 9, 2012, to fulfill the remainder of Sheriff Steve Pylant's term. Pylant will take his position as the newly elected state representative of District 20. Cobb's official term as sheriff will begin July 1, 2012.
