Patriots clawed by Cougars
by Tom Bonnette - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Dreams of a Franklin Parish playoff victory were dashed Friday night
when St. Thomas More of Lafayette delivered a 52-8 defeat at Patriot Stadium.

The No. 2 Cougars, with a 10-1 record and 136 players in grades 10-12, thrashed the Patriots in a game that Franklin Parish head football coach Barry Sebren knew would be a tough match.

"I knew that they had some advantages on us, that we would have to play a close to perfect game to win. We didn't come anywhere near perfect, unfortunately," Sebren said.

The Cougars scored on the opening two drives and converted two more Patriot turnovers into touchdowns to open up a 28-0 lead.

Franklin Parish simply could not recover against the offensive onslaught like they did last week at St. Michael of Baton Rouge.
