Hunter killed in shooting accident

Early Monday morning, a Jonesville man was killed while hunting in Catahoula Parish.

The incident occurred around 5:50 a.m. on the Catahoula Wildlife Refuge.

A hunter, identified as Boatner K. Smith, 52, of Jonesville, was hunting and shot at an object moving in the brush.

Smith's shot struck the victim, identified as Rod Gordon, 63, of Jonesville in the upper left side. As a result, Gordon was killed instantly.
