Story Archives: Winnsboro man saves farm relic

Winnsboro man saves farm relic
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Edgar Mitchell of Winnsboro stands next to a bell he retrieved from storage in a bar on his father's farm, seven miles from Minden.

Mitchell said his father acquired the bell circa 1936, which he used on his farm until about 1944.
The bell is made of bronze, keeping its finish without the rusting as an iron bell would.

Made by the Buckeye Bell Foundry in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mitchell now uses the ornament as decoration and memorabilia of the past.
