Wisner fire rating downgraded
by Tom Bonnette - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The city of Wisner's Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL) Fire Rating, has been downgraded, according to city officials.

The move is expected to hike property insurance rates for homeowners and businesses.

The city had a Class 5 rating, but that's dropped to a Class 10 rating, the lowest given. Officials said the matter will be discussed during the Wisner City Council's regular monthly meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

"We had our fire inspection over the summer and the rating change was made effective Oct. 10, and premiums will be going up. Presently, we are engaged in training our volunteer firefighters, which is what we were lacking," said Wisner Mayor Allyn Jean Luckett.
