Franklin Academy punched its ticket to the state semifinal playoff game with a thrilling, hard fought 28-16 victory over Macon Central in Macon, Miss., Friday night.

The Cougars (8-2) will now face Tensas Academy for the right to advance to the state championship game.

The Cougars opened the game with a drive that culminated in a 6-yard Chris Hassell run, giving them a 6-0 lead. Late in the first half, with Macon Central driving, the Cougars made a defensive stand when Hassell broke up a fourth down pass in the end zone. The first half ended with FA leading 6-0.
