Rayville attorney David Doughty, who ran unsuccessfully against District Attorney John "Mack" Lancaster, is no longer an assistant district attorney in the 5th Judicial District Court.

Doughty said on Monday that Lancaster asked him to resign from the job he has held for the past 20 years.

"He asked for my resignation and I didn't want to cause a problem, so I resigned," Doughty said. "I've enjoyed working for the public and I am happy for the time that I have served."

Lancaster said that Doughty's removal was because of a "personnel matter" and would not go into details why he asked Doughty to resign.
