Franklin Parish has a new sheriff and the Louisiana Legislature has a new representative, according to complete but unofficial poll results from Saturday's primary election.

Four-term parish sheriff Steve Pylant bested Cleve Womack in the House District 20 race, carrying more than 70 percent of the vote.

Pylant will assume the office in place of Winnsboro's Noble Ellington, who declined to seek re-election.

Pylant announced his retirement earlier this year after serving Franklin Parish as sheriff for four terms.
