Baskin man charged with cruelty to animals

A Baskin man was arrested last Monday for killing a neighbor's dog that had wandered onto his parent's property, according to the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office.

John F. Lawrence, 17, of 539 Miller Road in Baskin, was taken into custody and charged with cruelty to animals after shooting the animal, which he said was harassing his family's livestock, said Franklin Parish Chief Deputy Kevin Cobb.
