Parish pays tribute to ag community

The Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce hosted an evening tribute to area farmers and their families Thursday at the Jack Hammons Community Center in Winnsboro.

Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commissioner Mike Strain served as the featured guest speaker.

Chamber President Nathan Roberts emceed the event, with Craig Gill, Rep. Noble Ellington and Jim Casey of the University of Louisiana also addressing the agriculture community from the podium.

"The agriculture business is the largest industry we have in Franklin Parish," said Roberts. "I'm so glad we are able to honor their contributions to the local economy."
