Tax renewals, amendments on Oct. ballot

In addition to local and statewide elections, Franklin Parish voters will be asked to approve four local property tax renewals and five amendments to the state constitution on the Oct. 22 ballot.

The tax money is needed to ensure that parish can continue to move ahead with infrastructure improvements and can maintain normal operations, said Franklin Parish Police Jury President Ricky Campbell.

"We can't operate without the money. We can't dig ditches or repair roads," Campbell said. "Before we had this money, the jury didn't have anything to work with and we don't want to go back like it was 18 years ago."
