Recycling plant receives federal grant

Winnsboro Rubber Recycling, a local business that grinds old automobile tires into new products, has received over $70,000 from the federal government for equipment upgrades, according to state officials.

The money, a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, is being used to purchase a new shredder for the plant, said Northeast Louisiana Economic Alliance President Tana Trichel.

"This is a case of older equipment being replaced by more energy efficient equipment that will save the company money and will also save some of our natural resources," she said.
