A Winnsboro woman has been convicted by a federal jury of defrauding the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services' Child Care Assistance Program out of over $100,000 over a three-year period.

Angela S. Lafonta, the 37 year-old owner of Tinkerbelle's Day Care in Winnsboro and Rayville, was convicted of three counts of making false claims to the department.

The claims were made for reimbursement for day care services for children that Lafonta's businesses were not caring for or that were listed with an inaccurate number of hours of attendance, according to the United States Department of Justice.
