Schedler addresses local tea party

Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler, who is waging a hard fight for his seat against state House Speaker Jim Tucker, described tea party members as "an intricate group of voters" that he was happy to address at a recent meeting in Winnsboro.

Schedler traveled to Winnsboro last Monday to speak to the Franklin Parish-based American Patriot Tea Party at the group's meeting at the VFW Hall.

Schedler said he felt obligated to meet with the tea party after Kelly Martin, the president of the local chapter, called his office and requested someone attend a meeting to explain the state's election process.

Even with the Oct. 22 elections hovering, the meeting was more informative than political, Schedler said.
