Although Christmas is still months away, I thought that I might get off easy when my girlfriend announced that all she wanted this year was a purse.

"Just a purse?" I asked, naively, amazed that I might not be forced to live on baloney until February.

"I just want a Coach bag, that's all" she innocently responded, understanding fully that I had no idea what a Coach bag was or what one cost.

I made a mental note to look for one on my next trip to Wal-Mart as I told her that Santa would deliver.

After all, I've bought purses for her before and I knew the drill.

It was always the same thing.

They usually don't cost more than $30 to $40, and I hardly ever see them again a few days after I buy them.

Simple enough
