A company planning to expand its two natural gas storage caverns in Franklin Parish is working to alleviate concerns over environmental problems that might result from the project.

Representatives with Texas-based Cardinal Gas Storage Partners recently met with residents, agriculture officials and members of the Franklin Parish Police Jury to discuss the Perryville Gas Storage expansion of the salt dome caverns near Crowville. The company proposes to increase the size of the caverns, which measure about 15 billion-cubic feet combined, by 2.5 billion-cubic-feet each.
