Irrigated soybeans produce higher yields

Dry weather has hurt soybean yields in most of Louisiana, but irrigated crops seem to be doing well in Franklin Parish, according to agriculture officials.

Despite severe drought during the growing season, the LSU AgCenter reports that soybean yields ranged from as high as 90-plus bushels per-acre in some parts of northeast Louisiana where fields were irrigated or where fields were in high water tables next to rivers.

In Franklin Parish, yields are estimated to be as high as 70 bushels per-acre, said County Agent Carol Pinnell-Alison.
