The City of Winnsboro has a new auditor –Silas Simmons LLP of Natchez, Miss.—and it only took five meetings to get there.

The city's quest to find someone to do the annual financial audit began when Winnsboro's long-time accounting firm, Marcus, Robinson and Hassell, announcing last month that they would no longer be working for the city.

The contention since then has been squabbles over how much that a new firm would charge the city to conduct the audit.
