Cougars defeat Briarfield
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Franklin Academy picked up a big District 2A South win, holding off Briarfield 45-42 in Winnsboro Friday.

"That was a really hard-fought game," said Franklin coach Doyle Hassell. "We lost a couple of onside kicks, but our defense really stepped up."

Franklin held Briarfield to 44 yards on the ground after the Lake Providence team had been averaging about 300 yards rushing a game.

"Jason Delgado, Kalin Howington and Hunter Jones did a great job up front and Ian Black did a good job of spying on their quarterback," Hassell said. Walker Magee and Kade Armstrong also did good jobs on defense."
