Winnsboro native Paula Hammons remembers the World Trade Center shimmering like a jewel nestled in the New York skyline on a perfect day as she drove to work on Sept. 11, 2001.

"Two hours later the whole world changed," Hammons said, reflecting on the 10 year anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, DC.

Hammons, who still lives in New Jersey where she works as an elementary school physiologist, has trouble keeping her voice from quivering with emotion when she speaks of that tragic day.
