Vote on auditor slated for Monday

Winnsboro officials are hoping to reach a consensus next week on the hiring of an accounting firm after no decision was made in a special called meeting on Monday.

The Monday meeting marks the fourth time Mayor Jackie Johnson and the city council have met to choose a new firm to conduct the annual audit.

The audit, which must be completed by Dec. 31, is running about three months behind schedule.

"I thought that we would have reached a decision last week. When that didn't happen, I thought that we would have reached one today. It's not real encouraging," Johnson said after the Monday meeting.
