Winnsboro's annual financial audit—already three months behind schedule—is being met with further delay, because the mayor and city council are unable to resolve differences over hiring a new accounting firm.

Long-time city auditor, Marcus, Robinson and Hassell, announced earlier this month that the firm would no longer be working for Winnsboro, forcing the city to find a replacement.

Two Monroe accounting firms—William R. Hulsey Accounting and Luffey, Huffman, Ragsdale and Soignier—were considered at the council's Aug. 15 regular meeting
