First cotton bale, load of corn sought for farmers' banquet

The Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Farmers Appreciation Banquet on Oct. 6, where the first bale of cotton and load of harvested corn will be auctioned in a tribute to parish farmers.

The first bale of cotton must weigh between 480 pounds to 540 pounds, must have been grown in Franklin Parish by a resident, must have been ginned in Franklin Parish and the farmer must have been the first to receive a compress receipt for the crop year.
