Tea party hosts candidate forum

Voters filled Winnsboro's VFW Hall last Tuesday night to gage candidates in the fall elections at a forum hosted by An American Patriot Tea Party.

Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who is vying for lt. governor, served as keynote speaker for the event and was given the most time to make a presentation.

Other candidates had to limit speeches to four minutes.

Nungesser, who gained notoriety by appearing on nationally broadcast cable news shows during last year's Deepwater Horizon oil spill, used his time to update voters on conditions in the Gulf of Mexico and what he would do if elected lt. governor.
