School board addresses 'procedural' error

The Franklin Parish School Board voted Monday to recover funds issued to parish teachers through a clerical error.

The money will be recovered by deducting the overpayment from their salaries and supplementing their pay with sales tax revenues, commonly referred to as the "13th check."

"I take responsibility for what happens here and it is also my responsibility to correct it," said Superintendent Lanny Johnson. "It is crucial that this is corrected to sustain the system in the future."
