Rain brings 'mixed blessing'

Agriculture officials are calling recent rainfall a "mixed blessing," that has brought needed relief to some farmers, but is impeding harvests of others.

Southern parts of Franklin Parish received as much as four inches of rain over the last two weeks, while about 1.5 inches fell in the northern sections of the parish, according to the National Weather Service.

The parish has been suffering from drought and is still well below its average recorded rainfall for this time of year.
