Debs take second in tourney action
The Winnsboro Debs wrapped up their 2011 Dixie Youth softball season with a second-place finish in the state tournament held in West Monroe over the weekend.
The team, playing in the 16-18 year old division, got a bye into the state tournament and made the most of their opportunity.
The only other team from their district, Oak Grove, was eliminated on the second day of competition.
Winnsboro dominated much of tournament play early on as they raced out to a 4-0 record heading into the finals against Madisonville.
Winnsboro began the tournament with an offensive shootout that they won over Caldwell Parish, 19-12. |
