Since there is going to be a new sheriff in town, Emmitt Coleman believes he is the right man for the job.

Coleman, a 27-year veteran of the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office, said on Friday that he officially has entered the race to replace Sheriff Steve Pylant.

Pylant announced in May that he would retire after four terms in office.

The only other candidate in the sheriff's race is FPSO Chief Deputy Kevin Cobb.
