Just like many local football players are staying busy with preparations in between summer vacations, baseball teams in the area are doing the same.

The Delhi Charter School Gators are no exception. Coming off a 4-23 campaign that included three district wins, the Gators played through three tournaments against local competition to try to improve.

DCS hosted one tournament and played at Mangham and Rayville this summer.

Johnson pointed to some tough district games that saw his young lineup fail to answer the adversity of falling behind early and he hopes the June games made his team get the winning attitude they need to compete for a district title.

Johnson pointed out that Cole Stracener has had a good summer pitching and he expects the sophomore-to-be to anchor the Gator pitching staff once again in the coming season.
