A Winnsboro man is charged with attempted murder after allegedly entering a woman's home and bludgeoning her and her teenage daughter with an unnamed object.

Gerry D. Banks, 28, 177 Washington St., entered the residence after an altercation with another juvenile and struck the woman and her 16-year-old daughter with the object, causing serious injury to both, said Winnsboro Police Chief Lester Thomas Jr.

The woman was airlifted to a Shreveport hospital and her daughter was transported to St Francis Hospital in Monroe, Thomas said.
