Ta'Erica Manuel of Winnsboro, an honors student at Grambling State University, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship on June 5, in Bossier City, during the 6th Annual James "Shack" Harris and Doug Williams Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic.

The foundation was established in 2005 by NFL quarterback pioneers Pro Bowl MVP James "Shack" Harris and Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams.

Applicant eligibility for the scholarships are open to single mothers of any age or ethnicity, who are entering their junior or senior year at a four-year institution.

Applicants must be enrolled at one of the following colleges or universities: Grambling State University, Northwestern University, Louisiana Tech University, Southern University-Shreveport or Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

A total of five scholarships and laptops were awarded to honorees during the event.
