Superintendent in for another year

A special called meeting by the Franklin Parish School Board to consider and/or take action on the resignation of the superintendent was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m., but the meeting was cancelled two hours prior when Lanny Johnson agreed to stay with the system for one more year.

"I had been thinking about it for three or four months and since my contract was up, I thought it'd be a good time," said Johnson. "It'll take some time to begin the process of finding another superintendent, so I advised the board I would remain in the position for another year."

Board president Eddie Ray Bryan said he was grateful for Johnson's decision to stay, but replacing Johnson's experience in the field of education would be "hard to do."
"We're going to be better off with him than without him," Bryan said.
