Big Bro Big Sis rep addresses chamber Hard times are impacting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Louisiana plans for expansion in Franklin Parish, according to Jane Brandon, director for the mentoring programs local chapter.
In November, Big Brothers Big Sisters received a $250,000 grant from the Administration of Children and Families, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to be used to extend the program to Franklin Parish.
The program, which works under the umbrella of The Wellspring, is partly funded by the state and budget cuts mean that Big Brothers Big Sisters will not be able to service as many children in the parish as was hoped, Brandon told members of the Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce at Thursday's membership meeting at the Old Post Office Museum. For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
