LSU baseball: Rollercoaster ride for fans

The picture of Regions Parks in Hoover, that goes along with a story on the SEC Baseball Tournament, is from the press box, showing a panoramic view of the park during an SEC Tournament game.

There are a number of purple and gold shirts in the overflow crowd.

Obviously any pictures from this year's tournament will be lacking of purple and gold.
What a strange year it has been for LSU baseball.

Starting out of the gate at 16-1 and just when you think the Tigers are going back to Omaha comes three tough losses to top-rated Florida, a loss to Louisiana Lafayette and two of three losses to Georgia.

Then comes two of three wins over Ole Miss followed by a sweep by the Razorbacks by scores of 2-0, 4-3 and 5-4.

LSU coach Paul Mainieri talked about going to more small ball because of the newer bats, but then comes along countless base-running mistakes and players hitting into double plays when a squeeze or sacrifice bunt could have made the difference in the game.
