Post 84 to host Memorial Day program

American Legion Post 84 will hold this year's Memorial Day program, May 30, at Davis Park in Winnsboro at 4 p.m.

Bobby Collins of the American Legion will emcee the event, which will feature speeches by Winnsboro Mayor Jackie Johnson and Rev. Craig Beeman, as well as patriotic songs by Carolyn Thomas.

New bricks bearing the names of veterans will be dedicated by Kay Scott. Rev. Don Blackmon will read the names of local veterans killed in action and lead a prayer in their memory.

The ceremonial lowering of the American flag will be performed by Alvin Hatten, with "Taps" performed by Scott Parks.
