Seven on seven plan for Gators The Delhi Charter School Gators did not hold any spring football practices this spring and they will be working extra hard this summer to make up for lost time.
DCS ended their school year on May 6 and the Louisiana High School Athletic Association did not allow teams to begin practice until May 9 this year.
"We just looked at it and decided not to have it," DCS head coach Bret Raley said. "We are going to go to a lot of seven-on-seven games this summer and kids need time to themselves. If we had brought them back up here for spring practice then those kids wouldn't get a break at all."
DCS got out two weeks earlier than most schools because they decided to be in class longer during Thanksgiving and Spring Break. DCS students and teachers got a two-day break on each of those occasions where as public schools were out for the entire week. For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
