Police jury approves voting realignment New voting districts to reflect population changes over the last decade have been passed by the Franklin Parish Police Jury.
Jurors met with the North Delta Regional Planning and Development District in March to create the new maps and have spent the last few weeks deciding the best way to realign districts.
Jurors approved the new maps during Thursday's regular meeting, but not all were happy with the way they were created. While six jurors voted in favor of the new district realignments, juror Leroy Scott abstained from voting.
"We could have been more compassionate with each others' needs concerning how the alignments were drawn, but we were more concerned with our own needs than we were the needs of other jurors," Scott said. For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
